VITA is an acronym that stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $66,000 or less household income and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation (including those with self-employment) and free electronic filing to qualified individuals in local communities.
The advantages to visiting a VITA site are many. Certified VITA volunteers can inform taxpayers about special tax credits for which they may qualify, such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for Qualified Retirement Savings Contributions. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, churches and other convenient locations.
To locate a VITA site near you in Florida, search using the search bar on the home page of freefltaxsites.org.

Their help is free, individualized and there are no strings attached. Membership in AARP is not necessary. Taxpayers of all ages are welcome to use this service.
